I posted some photos of the electric motorcycle. We removed the engine from a 1987 Honda motorcycle and replaced it with 16 - 12 volt batteries and a 10 HP brushless electric motor.
The motor is controlled by an motor controller designed by the electrical engineers. The motorcycle also also has a new digital dashboard that replaces the analog gauges. The dashboard is powered by Debian Linux running on the ALIX.1C motherboard that I mentioned in a previous post. The dashboard software receives a real-time data stream over RS-232 with information about lighting, motor, and batteries. Our group did pretty well at the expo. We received the People’s Choice award for our project. More Photos
